VH Grill To Thrill | Blog Tour

For Father’s Day I bought my husband a shiny new BBQ, he lucked out and received it two weeks earlier then planned and since then we have been grilling up everything. I absolutely love BBQ, especially on those exasperating hot days, where the thought of turning on the oven makes me want to get take out.

My favorite thing to grill? That has to be steak, but since that’s what we always do I wanted to step out of my comfort zone for this blog tour. I was supplied with the following sauces from VH sauces:

Garlic Hoison: This sauce is labelled for stir fry, but the preparation styles are endless. VH’s website recommends this on cedar planked salmon, but I really liked this with flank steak and broccoli. The bold taste of garlic really works well with the broccoli and makes eating vegetables a little more enjoyable.

Pineapple: The pineapple cooking sauce is made with real pineapple and balances the taste of tangy and sweet beautifully. VH has a recipe for Asian Chicken Burgers with Pineapple Mayonnaise that is to die for, since I didn’t have the typical ingredients for the burger part I just used a chicken breast and made the pineapple mayonnaise instead – recipe posted below.

Tandoori: This sauce is from the indian market line from VH is unlike anything I have tried before. It’s my new favorite. I found this sauce to be sweet, but has a bold kick – almost like a cross between chili powder and barbecue sauce (as strange as that sounds). I grilled chicken breast and simply brushed this sauce on after I flipped the chicken. It was simple and was bursting with flavor. I didn’t want to marinate and then grill, due to the fact I would probably burn the chicken. After many attempts at BBQ chicken, this is a lesson I slowly learned and is probably my #1 tip for all you beginner grillers (like me).

Another tip is if you want to keep your chicken (or veggies) from sticking to the grill, I recommend using PAM Grilling Spray. Normally, I used olive oil but not only did I find that high in calories and fat but costly too. PAM is 1/2 the fat and almost non existent in calories. I tried this for the first time last night and believe this is a keeper. It kept my asparagus from sticking to the grill and becoming charcoal.
