40 Day Lent Challenge

40 Day Lent Challenge
I have never participated in Lent before, nor have I given much thought to it. The thought of giving something up you hold dear for 40 days and 40 nights is a little daunting. I’m in a group where two of my friends and I discuss weight loss, how we’re doing with our healthy and fitness and weigh in every Wednesday. It wasn’t until Britney from The Drunk Runner suggested we partake in a challenge and after further discussion we all decided to let go of the one thing we let control our life, the scale.

I’m awful with my scale, I step on it every day. It does help me keep myself in line but I let it completely control my life. If I have a less then perfect weigh in – my whole day is shot. That being said when I see some awesome numbers, I’m on cloud 9 for the day and I behave accordingly since I don’t want to ruin that number. I do measure myself once a week, but there is something entrancing about that scale. It needs to be broken. For the next 40 days I will be measuring and calculating my body fat %.

Britney and I have a blog together called A Fit Mess, it’s a blog where we share our trials and tribulations when it comes to health and fitness. You will find out workouts, tips, our diets and (in time) recipes. The blog is still being built and we’re working on making it “pretty” but the theme is still there: we want to get into the best shape of our lives.

So join us on A Fit Mess’s 40 Day Lent Challenge. How? Easy:

  • Write a blog post on something you plan on giving up for lent, it doesn’t have to be health or fitness related.
  • Head to the 40 Day Lent Challenge and submit your blog post to the linky and leave us a comment
  • Check in from time to time to let us know how you’re doing.

I hope you see you there.

  1. What a great way to stay motivated for Lent!!!

  2. I have never been one to over excess over anything …. hummm probably Coke :) So sacrificing something for Lent is tricky. I will probably commit to not eating meat on Fridays. Good luck with your challenge.
