The number one thing my house needs is a kitchen makeover. When we first viewed this house with the realtor, I remember saying how dated the kitchen was. Our original plan was to renovate the kitchen this summer, but plans fall through and now we’re pushing back the reno date. Yet every day I look at my kitchen, it eats away at me.

Hearing about this contest has me thinking about what I want to do with my kitchen. For one I would knock out all my cupboards. I have these terrible overhead cupboards that separates my dining room. Not only are they not welcoming but they’re dangerous – I hit my head on them at least once a day. My plan is white shaker style cupboards with crown moulding, white glass subway tile, but I’m still unsure with my counter tops. Do I stay light or do I go dark for contrast? I want to install a pantry where there is a waste of space wall, so I gain some cupboard space when I knock out the annoying upper cupboards near the dining room.
Appliance wise, I would love a new cook top. I have an amazing Frigidaire Gallery French Door Fridge already, and wouldn’t trade it for anything else but I am in need of a new dishwasher to utilize my Finish Quantum dishwashing detergent.
The floor to ceiling cupboards, completely with chalking and crown mouldings makes me want to cry. I love the storage, but what takes the cake is where the sink is. I love the corner window looking out to the back yard. Washing dishes suck, but I could live with doing it while watching my son play in his tree fort or play house.
I would, however, change the light fixtures – they don’t give me the look that I imagine when I see these cupboards. I would also change the paint color to the Kendall Grey by Benjamin Moore that I currently have. The white would pop beautifully.
Along with you, I will be entering this contest to help build the perfect kitchen for my home. Good luck.
If you won, what would be some of your must have features?
