Golden Moon Tea Review

I contacted Golden Moon Tea a while ago about reviewing one of their products and I was thrilled when they replied, accepting my offer!
“Golden Moon Tea was founded in 1993 with the belief that tea is so much more than just a healthy, refreshing, good tasting drink. We believe that, unlike other drinks, tea has a rich history and a total culture that includes serenity, a sense of well being and even a culture of tea preparation. Golden Moon is dedicated to offering outstanding, whole-leaf teas of the greatest quality and finesse. Whole-leaf varietals retain the subtle nuances of flavor so prized by discriminating palates throughout the centuries. All Golden Moon Teas are hand-plucked and meticulously crafted to enhance leaf character, aroma, color, clarity, body, complexity, and above all, flavor. Tea lovers will find no soggy paper tea bags and no trendy herbals from Golden Moon. Only real tea from the Camellia sinensis bush. And, of course, only the finest. A portion of Golden Moon Tea’s net profits are contributed to The Lotus 88 Foundation for Women and Children.”

I was sent the Tippy Earl Grey Tea and when I first opened the canister I was confused, it was real tea! Now, I love tea but I’m no avid tea drinker. I don’t know much about it, I normally just buy a box from the grocery store. I was confused because there were no tea bags, just tea leaves and I have never seen that before. Luckily, I have a tea pot from IKEA that has a filter built in (I later found that a coffee filter works just as well when I don’t want to make a whole pot) so I followed the directions and made some tippy earl grey tea. It was much better then any earl grey I have ever tried. Ever. It smells amazing, I could be wrong but to me the scent is floral with a hint of citrus (but not a sharp lemon scent). It’s subtle and refreshing.Normally with Earl Grey I always load the cream and sugar, but lately with my calorie counting I have decided to cut that out, and with doing so I have cut out Earl Grey completely, so I was a bit nervous when I first tried it. So when you hear from me that you do not need cream, milk or sugar, trust me you don’t! It is naturally sweet and it tastes like it’s a real high quality tea.
Something I really appreciate about Golden Moon tea is that they have directions. I know that seems silly, but I learned things I never knew before. Did you know that after pouring hot water over your tea leaves “if using green, oolong or white tea, let the water cool a bit first”? I never knew that! I also like the fun facts Golden Moon has for Earl Grey on their website, such as:
Mood: For the free spirit living in a proper society Time: Traditionally taken in the morning or afternoon, but break free and enjoy anytime. Cuisine: Delightful with toast and strawberry preserves. An excellent afternoon tea to serve to guests with cream cheese sandwiches, scones, and fresh or dried fruit. Price Per Cup: .11-.20 Caffeine: Medium This treasured Golden Moon recipe was hand-delivered (at great risk – but that’s another story for another day) by a Chinese tea trader to 19th Century British Prime Minister Earl Grey.
I thought that was pretty cool that they had that information on their site. I’m all around impressed with this company. I will be using their tea’s again (they have some fantastic flavors).

I do love Earl Grey tea, and what a coincidence since I do think of myself as a “free spirit living in a proper society”! They have some interesting sounding teas over there, but I’m such a traditionalist, my pick to try would have to be the Darjeeling.
I think I would try the Nepalese Afternoon tea or maybe the French Breakfast. I love English Breakfast & Irish Breakfast, but I’ve never had French Breakfast.
This is an awesome give-away. I would love to try Sugar Carmel Oolong tea. Oolong is my favorite tea and combining it with carmel has to be a win-win situation. Yum.
I would also love to try the Sugar Carmel Oolong. It sounds really yummy!

I’d like to buy the Sinharaja – because I love Ceylon tea and this sounds like a particularly special Ceylon.
